Aida Bounama, MD
Dr. Aida Bounama, MD is an eyelid expert with impeccable training, skills and expertise in the field of oculofacial plastic surgery. She completed her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, where she conducted research in the field of Chemistry earning a prestigious Zabriskie Fellowship and was nominated as a Rufus Choate Scholar.
She was inspired to go into the field of medicine after participating in international medical service trips and volunteering with local organizations within her community. After graduating magna cum laude from Dartmouth College with a major in Chemistry and a minor in French, Dr. Bounama obtained her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital before starting her residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute.
Because of her achievements during her residency, she was granted the distinction of being accepted into a competitive ASOPRS (American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic
and Reconstruction Surgery) fellowship training program, where only 20 positions are open nationwide. She completed her fellowship at the University of Texas Health
Science Center, San Antonio, where she had rigorous training in cosmetic, orbital and functional oculoplastic surgery. Today, she has joined the ranks of distinguished
ASOPRS members, of which there are only 750 members in the United States.
In her practice, she specializes in facial rejuvenation and disorders of the eyelids, eye socket, and tear drainage system. As a native New Yorker, she is dedicated to serving her community. She treats all oculoplastic concerns including droopy eyelids, droopy brows, and orbital issues such as thyroid eye disease. She has a special interest in cosmetic surgery and procedures including botox injections and dermal fillers.
