David Poon, MD
Dr. Poon graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Biology from Harvard College. He then earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins Medical School. After medical school, he completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Poon is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been awarded research grants from both the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Poon has also authored numerous articles in the ophthalmic literature and served as a co-investigator in studies on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion. His other areas of expertise include repair of retina detachments, macular holes, and macular pucker.
