Elizabeth Viriya, MD

Elizabeth Viriya, MDDr. Viriya is a board-certified, cornea fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who practices comprehensive ophthalmology with additional interests in complex cataract surgery, ocular surface reconstruction, severely dry or inflamed eyes, and corneal transplantation.

Her medical career began in biomedical engineering at Columbia University, where she earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. She completed medical school at SUNY Downstate followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Viriya further sub-specialized in refractive, corneal, and external disease at both the Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute and Scripps Health.

Her clinical experience includes hospital-based practices, including her time on faculty with the Department of Ophthalmology at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine as well as the NYC Health and Hospitals.

She has been serving on the advisory board of the New York Eye Bank since 2020 and currently serves on the American Academy of Ophthalmology Preferred Practice Pattern Cornea/External Disease Committee.
